Handyman Properties Sale and For-Rent Homes Thrive in Alabama
Handyman properties sale figures and sales numbers for other types of residential properties in Alabama recorded increases last year. Most of the increases were seen in areas near military bases like Fort Mitchell and Fort Benning, the latter being located near the border of Alabama and Georgia.
Montgomery foreclosures for sale and most of the residential properties open for purchase in various areas of Alabama did well last year. However, markets near military installations were the ones that mostly showed improvements. In Phenix City, located near Fort Mitchell, the number of homes sold reached 283 last year, up from the 278 that were sold in 2009. The median selling price was also up, coming from the 2009 rate of $193,000 to reach $197,000 in 2010.
Both non-foreclosed and foreclosed homes for sale in Alabama are expected to record higher numbers this year. Rental dwellings are also projected to have higher occupancy rates as more military realignments are completed in 2011. Fort Benning is expected to welcome 4,700 military personnel this year, with all of them mandated to be at the Fort by September 2011.
Along with these military personnel are civil service workers, numbering around 1,000, and private contractors, estimated to be around 4,800, with most of them expected to bring their families with them. The base is reportedly projecting around 28,000 people to be added to the area, with almost all of them likely to rent apartments or purchase Handyman properties sale and other residential properties in nearby communities.
In Alabama, particularly in the area of Phenix City, realtors are expecting a surge in foreclosures for sale and non-foreclosed home purchases by May as military families get time off during the school break to look for houses and organize relocation to Fort Benning and Fort Mitchell. According to them, housing markets surrounding these two military installations will benefit from the relocations.
Handyman properties sale figures and data for residential properties are projected to improve in 2011 not only in Alabama, but also in several areas of Georgia that are near the military bases. Realtors are reportedly bracing for a huge demand for houses and rental dwellings come May.
