Foreclosures in New England Receive Help
The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is trying hard to help home owners who could be affected by foreclosures to keep their homes. They are now doing this in collaboration with the New England Patriots.
Home owners who live around the New England area and are facing problems with paying their mortgages are to have an opportunity to interact directly with lenders at the work shop to be held at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
This event, sponsored by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and the Boston Fed are to include eighty representatives from twenty home-loan servicers. Besides, there will be fifty counselors from various government and non-profit agencies who would provide advice to home owners in distress.
This is the Federal office’s second direct attempt to try and help homeowners who are under pressure of losing their homes. In a similar effort in 2007 borrowers were encouraged to get in touch with a group of lenders who were prepared to finance home loans. That attempt had led to 1,300 homeowners responding and helped refinance 19 loans.
An important thing to keep in mind while attending an event such as this is to remember to take along all relevant documents in regards to the mortgage.
Homeowners and advocates of the housing sector have complained in the past that it is difficult to get in touch with lenders’ representatives over the phone. Events like these should make it easier for homeowners to make contact with their lenders.
Wells Fargo & Co, Washington Mutual, Countrywide Home Loans, Citigroup, Chase and Bank of America are amongst the lenders who will attend the New England meet.
Eric Rosengren, Boston Fed’s president, has urged home owners facing foreclosures to act before it gets too late. The goal for the workshop is to negotiate situations that are manageable for home owners and accountable financially for the servicers, he said.
With events like these more home owners will receive valuable advice in refinancing their existent home loans.
